PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE 12TH ANNUAL ZONTA BIRTHING KITS PROJECT! Every 2 minutes, a woman dies of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. The birthing kit holds supplies to meet the seven basic requirements for a clean birth and potentially saves the life of a mother and baby in a rural or remote community. This year we will be assembling 13,000 kits which will be distributed to expectant mothers in Papua New Guinea and across Africa.
ABOUT THE PROJECT Since its involvement began in 2006, the Zonta Brisbane Breakfast Club has facilitated the delivery of 87,000 birthing kits to communities in Papua New Guinea, Madagascar, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and Somalia. This contribution represents just a fraction of that delivered globally by the Birthing Kit Project, which at the end of December 2016, the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) had coordinated the distribution of 1.58 million kits.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED With the generous assistance of our sponsors, the birthing kit supplies have been procured but the kits won't assemble themselves! We need volunteers to assist us to prepare and assemble 13,000 kits in August!
Join the Zonta Club of Brisbane Breakfast on:
- Preparation Day on Wednesday, 16 August 2017 (EKKA day) OR
- Assembly Day on Saturday, 19 August 2017.
Both the Preparation and Assembly Days are held at the Valmai Pidgeon Performing Arts Complex, Somerville House, South Brisbane and kick off at 7.30am-8:00am, finishing around midday! Use the links on this page to register your attendance at one or both days! Following registration, you will be provided detailed information about what to expect on the day.
RAFFLE You can pre-purchase tickets in our raffle of a bunch of amazing prizes that is drawn on Assembly Day! All funds raised go to supporting next year's Birthing Kits Project!
DONATIONS If you would like to make a donation to the Birthing Kits Project, the funds will be used to purchase the six simple supplies found in each birthing kit which has the potential to save two lives! Any donation is greatly appreciated and will ensure that this Project continues for another ten years!
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES The day simply couldn't happen without the generous assistance of our corporate sponsors. If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor, contact Judi Hutchison at [email protected]
